In a unique and collaborative partnership, Choose Gang Free Case Managers are employed by Salt Lake County and work in close coordination with the Granite and Canyons School Districts, Juvenile Justice Youth Services, Juvenile Probation, DCFS, and a network of community-based agencies serving at-risk and gang-involved youth. This interagency approach enables comprehensive support that bridges education, justice, and social service systems, ensuring that youth receive consistent guidance and access to the resources necessary for long-term success and community safety.
Choose Gang Free is a multi-faceted gang prevention and intervention program that use the following strategies:
· Public service prevention campaign
· Evidence based, juvenile secondary prevention and intervention programming
· School-based 5th grade prevention programming
· Community education and training
· Family support and wrap-around services.
Choose Gang Free follows the “What Works Principles” and Best Practices of OJJDP and uses an evidence-based curriculum, to include case management and after care services to at-risk and gang involved youth.

CHOOSE GANG FREE is a great program. This program has helped me a lot throughout the year. I have learned to ignore drama, gangs, and the negative things in life. I have better grades now and I don't fight as much as I used to. Before the program I used to skip class a lot and I used to let other people's rude comments get the best of me. Now I just let it go because I am in school to learn not fight or skip class. For example, I used to do things whenever I want without thinking. Now I think then do the right thing.
