The Choose Gang Free (CGF) program provides evidence-based gang prevention education to fifth grade students through the combined efforts of school-based Case Managers (CSD) and Gang Prevention Specialists (GSD). The program consists of a ten-week curriculum designed to help students understand the consequences of gang involvement, build resilience against peer pressure, and develop positive decision-making skills. Each weekly lesson focuses on a specific topic — including What is a Gang, Peer Pressure, Graffiti, Gang Tattoos, Gangs and Family, Violence, Gangs and the Police, Making Choices, and My Future. The tenth week culminates in a graduation ceremony, during which students review the curriculum, take the Choose Gang Free Pledge, and celebrate their commitment to positive life choices.
